DEHYDRATED ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL GOST 9805-84 with amendment No. 1

-Dehydrated IPA

Description

Description: Dehydrated isopropyl alcohol – 2-propanol, the simplest secondary alcohol of the aliphatic series, CH3-CH-(OH)-CH3; colorless liquid with a specific odor; melting point=- 89.5 °C, boiling point=82.4 °C, density 0.7851 g/cm3 (20 °C).

Isopropyl alcohol mixes with water and organic solvents in all proportions, forming an azeotropic mixture with water (87.9%, boiling point 83.38 °C). Isopropyl alcohol has all the properties of secondary fatty alcohols.

The impact on humans: isopropyl alcohol belongs to hazard class 3 (moderately hazardous substances).

Product packaging: Products are shipped by rail (in tanks and platform containers), by road, and in euro cubes and barrels.

Application: Isopropyl alcohol is an essential tool used in the printing, chemical, oil refining, medical, woodworking and furniture, food, wood chemical, and perfume industries.

  • Printing: Isopropyl alcohol acts as a dampening agent in printing processes.
  • Chemistry: Isopropyl alcohol is widespread for the production of acetone, the synthesis of isopropyl acetate and other esters, and polymer washing in the production of plastics (production of low-density polyethylene and polypropylene).
  • Paint and varnish industry: Isopropyl alcohol is an auxiliary solvent for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, and ethyl cellulose.
  • Oil refining industry: Isopropyl alcohol acts as a urea solvent, a solution of which in alcohol is used for dewaxing diesel fuels, as an extractant mixed with methanol and water in the process of selective extraction of naphthenic acids, as an additive to oils to improve their quality in terms of anti-corrosion properties and pour point. Besides, it removes water from gasoline containers.
  • Medicine: Isopropyl alcohol acts as an antiseptic and disinfectant. It is widespread in the production of medical extractants and solvent essences and resins.

Isopropyl alcohol is an extractant for pure and impure substances in fine chemical technology. What’s more, it is widespread in making perfumes and cosmetics.

  • Wood chemical industry: When mixed with other solvents, isopropyl alcohol extracts resins from wood.
  • Woodworking and furniture industries: Isopropyl alcohol is used as a solvent for various oils, adhesives, etc., and removes old varnish coatings.
  • Aviation: Isopropyl alcohol acts as a stabilizer for aviation gasoline and as a de-icer.
  • Transport: Isopropyl alcohol works as a motor fuel component to increase its octane number.

The guaranteed shelf life is one year from the date of manufacture.
